very good but definantly not a 5 star... December 1, 2008 Deandrea J. King (clay) i liked the story and acting more then i liked the sword play in this one. even though the blade ti lung uses is sick, the swordplay wasnt all that impressive. full moon scimitar, supreme swordsman and silver spear were better in my opinion.....
Magic Blade Delivers In All Departments... September 1, 2008 David Brown III (gloucester, MA. USA) Wonderful film. Every treat is provided here. Fight choreographs that excell the average, tight storyline, acting with conviction by the entire cast, dialogue with principles, lavish sets, blood, violence, nudity, it's all here. A must have for fans of classic martial art cinema.
Swordplay at its finest. August 19, 2008 THE MAIN MAN (Central Bookin', NY) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Two swordsman agree to meet and have a second duel. During the duel they are attacked by two assassins. They later learn the attack is ordered by a man who fears the both of them plus a powerful weapon. The weapon is called the Peacock Darts and has sometype of unknown power. Fu Hung-hsueh played by Ti Lung is the main character and he carries a spinning sword. I have to say the battles he engage in are spectacular and something to see. The battles are mostly swordplay and get better each time. The story is well written and some of the battles have a new twist. This is due to the villians who are introduced and they use some interesting tactics. The final battle is pretty well done with a very good ending. There is some brief nudity and a very short girl on girl scene. And the girls are hot. The battles of course are the main attraction. However, the main character gets a bit more credit. He later shows that there is another side to him which actually adds a little more depth to his character. The scenary and the battle locations are nice to see. It never gets too dark to see the action and there isn't heavy editing. The DVD is of very good quality with english language and there isn't the slightest bit of grain. The sound is also very good. This is an excellent film and I can watch it at anytime. I highly recommend this for those searching for an excellent martial arts flick. This is one that shouldn't be missed.
Magic Blade Review May 27, 2008 Sam Sos (St.Paul, MN USA) All I can say is Watch and enjoy. An outstanding kung fu movie of the 70's.
magic indeed May 1, 2008 Derrick Jenkins (Hampton VA USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This one had me going from the beginning to the end with the battle of the two main actors. Then they work together for awhile then we have a plot twist or two and one of the actors disappears for awhile, dead right? Hmmm maybe not you'll have to check this one out to see what happens. The action is on point they fight with a variety of weapons a revolving sword, fans, darts and hand to hand fighting as well. All the characters whether it be hero or villian are on top of their game throughout this movie. Minus a couple ooops on the subtitles all is great with The Magic Blade. Pick it up you'll feel a part of the story by the time its through and some classic martial arts in this one as well.
