Sugano Shihan is a greatly revered teacher, who has dedicated himself to training and inspiring large numbers of students around the globe. He became an uchi deshi (live-in disciple) to Morihei Ueshiba in 1959. He is one of only a handful of current teachers directly affected by O-Sensei, who died in 1969. Sugano Sensei s passion for learning and his dedication to personal development have continued to deepen his understanding of Aikido and have lead him to study Zen meditation and European fencing. Until now, his subtle and spontaneous approach to Aikido has never been documented on film. This 70-minute video is in three parts: 1. Breathing and Mental Preparation. 2. Body Arts and Aikido Movement Principles. 3. Bokken Training Sequence. It also features 12 minutes of O-Sensei archival footage with the original music by Lousialala de la Poussiere and Yassine. The DVD version also includes two impressionistic music videos set to Ricardo s original guitar arrangements.
