5 out of 5 stars Owners of the VHS version of this film take note!   September 15, 2008
S. McVay (Dallas, TX)
I purchased the newer VHS copies of the 3 movies in this series back in 2000, so when this dvd was released I saw that it was still in standard format and passed. Today I ended up watching the dvd and was shocked to discover that the VHS copy contained an edited version of the film with MUCH less gore. When watching my tapes I had thought that I remembered there being a bit more to some of the kills but had attributed that to simply being false memories from my childhood. Now I see that I was correct in my suspicions.

If you're a fan of this series of films that passed on this DVD for the same reason as I did, this is a definite must purchase disc! Now if only they'd release NINJA III on dvd.

(note: this is only in reference to the newer vhs version of this film featuring the same cover design as the dvd)

4 out of 5 stars 80's Ninja at its best.!!   March 26, 2008
M. Hinson (South Carolina)
I purchased the Ninja movies Ninja 1: "Enter the Ninja". Ninja 2: "Revenge of the Ninja", and Ninja 3: "The Domination". Revenge of the Ninja was less goofy out of the three and you have to be a Sho Kosugi fan to truly appreciate the film. Ninja stunts range from secret shuriken belts to spitting darts in a guys face (ouch). All in all a great purchase for any ninja fan. For other ninja enjoyment check out the "Shinobi No Mono" series.

3 out of 5 stars Wow! The things we love when we're kids!   December 13, 2007
THE MAIN MAN (Central Bookin', NY)

First I'll go ahead and start by saying the story is ok at best. Revenge of the Ninja stars Sho Kosugi as a ninja who's family was attacked by other ninjas and they killed almost everyone. Sho heads to the US with his remaining family at his friends advice to start his life anew. He ends up in the middle of a drug deal that leaves behind some death. The plot was decent and there was some action with a few ninja tactics used here and there. The final battle was lengthy and very good.

Now, I loved this movie and all ninja movies when I was a kid. After watching this I'm kind of afraid to check out anything else. I'm not saying this is a bad movie at all. It was still fun to watch even now. But somethings was so laughably bad. The fight choreography was atrocious at times. Especially in the beginning. Some of the ninjas were plodding along like,"damn I did this a hundred times already". Some of them were too stiff and didn't have the energy to really grip the viewer. Atleast for me it didn't. To tell the truth, about 2 weeks ago I tried to watch this and didn't get past the first 5 minutes. I tossed it on today and actually got through it.

As the movie progressed to the end the fight scenes did get better as far as creativity. Such as darts getting blown into peoples faces and have them looking like porcupines. And they actually fought using ninja techniques at the end. It wasn't a 2 minute battle by any stretch.

Overall it was still a pretty fun martial arts movie and is dated to me. There's definitly better out there. I just don't know of too many anymore. Hopefully my amazon buddies who's into martial art films will help me out with this here.

The thing I remember most about this movie when I first saw it in the 80's on cable tv was the part where Cathy in the film played by Blonde floozy Ashley Ferrare does a Karate work out with Sho Kosugi and when she does her first series of high kicks the viewer thinks she is wearing nothing under her Karate top but upon closer inspection you can Easily see that she is wearing a flesh colored pair of pantyhose w/out panties underneath and her crotch is covered tastily by the pantyhose.I thought this was the Most erotic martial arts scene between a man and woman ever at the time !!! Its still kind of Sexy to watch ~ Mmmmmm

I remember watching this movie when it came out when I was like 12 years old or something. After watching we would go out and play ninja fighting the enemy ninja trees!! The ninja pine tree was a personal favorite. Watching this movie brings back all those memories, its so good, with a little cheese built in. The fight scenes are great. Kane is cool.I highly recommend this one.
