Product Description Deliberate psychic attack is very rare. However, your psyche is constantly under attack from friends and strangers, advertisers and politicians who want to manipulate you. Luckily, there is a solutionDenning and Phillips'' The Llewellyn Practical Guide to Psychic Self-Defense. The best way to overcome attacks on your psyche is through awareness that they are occurring. This requires you to become more awake and alert to this bombardment. Part of the technique is to understand how this attempted manipulation works. By studying this book you will gain that knowledge. The result is that the psychological intimidation that has been used on you in the past will no longer control you. There are two types of psychic attack. The first kind is attack by a person who has not had any occult training. He or she may feel slighted or betrayed by you (based on actual or imagined situations) and hold on to negative emotions. Eventually, unknown to that person, the negative energy can leap out, directed at you. This book reveals that your aura is your best line of defense. By using the exercises in this book to strengthen your aura, any such unintentional psychic attack will easily be dispelled and discharged. Even more rare is the "classic" psychic attack where a person does some sort of spell or ritual to harm you. Full instructions are given for overcoming such negative magick, both on a practical, physical level (sever any physical connection between you and the attacker) and on a ritual, spiritual level (perform blessings and rites to overcome psychic attack). But what happens if an attack does get through? First, you have to know how to recognize it. Usually, a successful attack strikes at your weak link. That could be your physical health (causing illness) or your mental attitude (causing depression). This book will show you how to recognize the problem and how to deal with it effectively.

Must have for the Beginner October 10, 2008 Shadow Breaker (Between the worlds) I found this book originally when I was just starting out on my journey to being pagan. I found it informative especially at the time I was in my teens. It helped me at the time quite a bit, however even back then I thought the book was a bit fluffy. While it is informative to a point, the real meat of the book is only about twenty pages or so. It is still worth getting when all said and done.
A better sense of well-being September 30, 2008 horse girl Reading this book helped me to feel a better sense of well-being in this not so safe world. It made me feel stronger inside.

I am glad I purchased this on the recommendation of a friend. It was well worth it. I enjoyed the book.
Not a "practical" guide at all March 21, 2008 Book lover (Arizona, USA) 8 out of 8 found this review helpful
Although an interesting read, this is simply NOT the "practical" guide I had been looking for. There is one basic aura strengthening exercise (albeit a good one) with one variant. Other than that there was simply a lot of occult information. This book also veers too far off into the wacky, imho. How many of us need to make sure we don't leave mail clippings around for our enemies who want to practice doll sorcery on us? How many of us need a ritual for cutting the tie to a doll used for doll sorcery? To me, there is simply too much of a gulf between a simple aura strengthening exercise, and talk of looking into your adversary's left eye only... I was looking for a treasury of different exercises for a wide range of situations and definitely did NOT find that here. In the end I pulled out an old book I owned, Judy Hall's "The Art of Psychic Protection" which contains a wealth of information and a TON of exercises. Go there instead if exercises are what you are after. This book fails to deliver on the "practical" in the title.
Not exactly what I expected... March 11, 2008 Idil Burat (Netherlands) 3 out of 4 found this review helpful
It began really nice and that is why I purchased the book. But after I finished it, I was somewhat disappointed. Other than the 'tower of light' method, the underlying message I got was: Occultism is not a bad thing. The 'real' occultists are actually good people and do not mess with 'bad' magic. Thus, the title of the book is somewhat misleading... Robert Bruce's book on the same subject is far better than this one and to the point. But I have to say the 'tower of light' technique was a valuable thing out of the whole book (that is, for me--and I am no occultist, but just someone curious about the subject and would like to learn more).
