3 out of 5 stars good for the price   June 14, 2008

Good for the price. Old fashioned looking, but good information. Pushing Yourself to Power and other John Peterson books are more exciting reads and more modern in tone and content.

5 out of 5 stars The Gym You Always Have With You   April 25, 2008
Janet Dykstra (Marquette, Michigan)
Dynamic Strength is fantastic! I have been practicing various isomterics for a relatively long time. While I found them to be very effective, none have included the "motion" factor as well as Dynamic Strength. The exercises are all done while in motion and inject a welcome fluidity to isometric strength training. All the exercises are completely illustrated and explained in such a fashion that anyone with little or no exercise experience can pick up this book and immediately put the ideas in practice. And the normal host of related products you "need" to use the program are non-existent! All you need are this book, a few feet of floor space, maybe a couple of common furniture items, and your own body. That's it! You don't need anything else but you, and this book, to get into superior shape. Try it! You won't be disappointed.

3 out of 5 stars Would you buy it if it didn't have a guy who was ripped on the cover?   April 10, 2008

Chances are the answer is no. This book is OK for the price. There is no doubt about it...the techniques are viable.

However, literally half of this material is either warm-up (basic stretches) or simply self-evident (pushups). Descriptions of each movement are not bad, and the supplemental pictures are mediocre. I'd venture to say that half of the material in this book is available for free on the internet(with better explanitory photos/pictures), as very little if any of the content here is original.

Overall, the techniques in this book are great ones to include in a comprehensive excercise program, but for anyone who isn't 90 years old, without access to proper training equipment, or in physical therapy, it's not worth buying.

5 out of 5 stars Is this the only exercise book you need? Answer: Yes.   June 8, 2007

Small book, massive results.

Many people have written reviews about this book commenting on how "slim" it is on the amount of exercises it covers. The irony here is that this elegance is one of the book's strongest high points.

What must be understood is that Dynamic strength is all about getting the most from the least in your workout.

You quite simply do not need weights or an encyclopedia of exercises in order to get into excellent shape. In fact, both of these factors often discourage people (perhaps you?) from even starting a workout routine in the first place.

From the table of contents onward, you can already tell you're going to get your whole body covered from head to toe.

This book is very well illustrated and extremely clear cut in terms of explaining to you EXACTLY what you must do in order to get the results you want in the shortest amount of time possible.

Dynamic strength really does give you everything you need to know to develop strength, power, speed, and yes even raw sex appeal - but without all of the problems caused by other workout programs

In fairness, this book doesn't cover cardio (which is essential to any workout even in its most minimum form), but all you need to remember for cardio is to walk on the treadmill @ 3.5 miles an hour for 15-30 minutes a day.

This book is twelve bucks, and you won't have to buy anything else afterwards in order to perform this exceptionally potent workout which is also remarkably easy to do for even the physically weakest of individuals (like me!).

Another tip; the actual book cover that gets shipped to you looks much nicer than the one pictured above. Neat.

In closing, combining this with very basic cardio (just go for a walk!), I don't understand why you would need any other exercise book.

Buy it, and then you can toss away your other overbloated workout books ; You simply you won't need them.

Enjoy.
